Course Description, Goals & Objectives (Learning Outcomes)
Through course readings, practical application, class discussion, research and structured reflection activities, students enrolled in Leadership as Life will explore how leadership opportunities serve as vehicles for service.
The year culminates in an individualized service project with the student’s selected student organization. This course is designed for students in their second or third year who demonstrate leadership ability and potential.The following outlines the goals for the course and the objectives by which each will be measured.
Goal: To connect students with leadership and service opportunities through student organizations.
Objective: Students will demonstrate active involvement through 20 hours of service to a student organization.
Goal: To cultivate service-oriented leaders by engaging students' leadership skills and knowledge in service to a community.
Objective: Students will identify a need and design and implement a service project within/ through their selected student organization community.Goal: To create an understanding of leadership as functions of both the mind and the heart.
Objective: Students will analyze others' and their own best practices in leadership through research and structured reflection assignments.
