Level 3: Interest Areas

This area allows for individual development that tailors to the interest areas for each participant. Participants can receive a certificate in any or all of the below interest areas by completing the requirements below.

Organizational Leadership Certificate

Description: The Organizational Leadership area of development will allow individuals to learn how to effectively utilize their proficiencies gained from Level I and Level II to apply towards organizational, group, and team development.

Requirements:

  1. Complete Personal Foundation of Leadership Certificate Requirements
  2. Complete Leadership Skills and Professional Enhancement Certificate Requirements
  3. Attend five (5) Organizational Leadership workshops
  4. Attend one (1) reflection session focused on Organizational Leadership. This reflection session should take place after the completion of the workshops focused in this interest area.
  5. Complete eight (8) hours of volunteer/engagement hours focused on Organizational Leadership

Workshop examples: Organizational Change, Fiscal Responsibility, Group Dynamics, Marketing/Promotion, Motivating Others, Recruitment and Retention, Conflict Resolution, Creating a Mission, Student Government 101, and many more…

Community Engagement Leadership Certificate

Description: The Community Engagement Leadership area of development will allow individuals to understand what it means to take an active role within and outside of their communities. This opportunity will allow participants to address issues that they observe are affecting our society. Through this interest level, participants will learn how to mobilize resources and influence systems.

Requirements:

  1. Complete Personal Foundation of Leadership Certificate Requirements
  2. Complete Leadership Skills and Professional Enhancement Certificate Requirements
  3. Attend five (5) Required Community Engagement Leadership workshops
  4. Attend one (1) reflection session focused on Community Engagement Leadership. This reflection session should take place after the completion of the workshops focused in this interest area.
  5. Complete eight (8) hours of focused community engagement service

Social Justice Leadership Certificate

Description: The Social Justice Leadership area of development is an opportunity designed to fortify participants in leadership roles here on campus and beyond, to focus on shared experiences and to critically examine various issues and isms that relate to living in a multicultural and diverse community. The ultimate goal is to give students the skills to act on the issues and causes they are most passionate about to become agents of social change.

Requirements:

  1. Complete Personal Foundation of Leadership Certificate Requirements
  2. Complete Leadership Skills and Professional Enhancement Certificate Requirements
  3. Attend five (5) Social Justice Leadership workshops
  4. Attend one (1) reflection session focused on Social Justice Leadership. This reflection session should take place after the completion of the workshops focused in this interest area.
  5. Complete eight (8) hours of volunteer/engagement hours focused on Social Justice Leadership

Description: The Outdoor Adventure Leadership area of development is an opportunity designed for participants to gain a stronger understanding in the areas of environmental education, environmental leadership, group processing, and team dynamics.

Requirements:

  1. Complete Personal Foundation of Leadership Certificate Requirements
  2. Complete Leadership Skills and Professional Enhancement Certificate Requirements
  3. Attend five (5) Outdoor Adventure Leadership workshops
  4. Attend one (1) reflection session focused on Outdoor Adventure & Environmental Justice. This reflection session should take place after the completion of the workshops focused in this interest area
  5. Complete eight (8) hours of volunteer/engagement hours focused on Outdoor Adventure & Environmental Justice Leadership
